Kimbolton Road is a classic Victorian terrace with a classic Victorian problem: a dark, cramped galley kitchen tucked away at the back and cut off from the garden. The owners wanted light, space and somewhere sociable to cook and eat — without losing the character of the house, and within the tight footprint a terrace allows.
Working within those constraints, our design adds a modest rear extension and reworks the layout so the whole ground floor feels bigger and better connected. A soft sage-green kitchen sits on warm herringbone floors, black Crittall-style steel doors and windows frame the garden and pull light deep inside, and a built-in banquette turns what was wasted space into an easy dining spot.
It's a real before-and-after: a tired galley with a checkerboard floor, transformed into a calm, hard-working room the whole family enjoys.
